Wilson Pediatric Dentistry is committed to ensuring a climate that promotes awareness of and support for equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI). We define diversity as inclusive of multiple and intersecting identities of the individual, including age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, religion, ability and disability, geography, nativity/ immigrant origin, and familial or cultural background broadly defined. Equity refers to a process of providing all groups with access to information and resources, as well as a careful consideration of existing barriers to ensuring equal opportunity for all. Inclusion involves both a tolerance of diverse views and civility of discourse as alternative viewpoints are encouraged and considered within the office, particularly when viewpoints are presented from the perspective of a historically marginalized or underrepresented group. Wilson Pediatric Dentistry expects its members to be attentive to issues of EDI in all of their activities on and off campus and encourages exploration of new ways to incorporate EDI considerations into those activities where appropriate.
At Wilson Pediatric Dentistry:
- We will foster and maintain a safe environment of respect and inclusion for patients, staff, parents, visitors and members of the communities we serve.
- We provide an environment that reflects the diversity of our communities and elevate cultural awareness.
- We will ensure fair and inclusive access to our facilities, programs, resources, and services, and ensure that all of our policies and practices are inclusive and equitable.
- We will advance and build our workforce by assessing hiring practices and performance review procedures to attract, retain, and develop talented doctors and staff from diverse backgrounds.
